At Shapiro & Duncan, safety is our #1 priority! The full-time staff of our Safety Department is responsible for written policies, procedures, program reviews, site inspections, awards/incentives and training. Training topics include:

  • First Aid/CPR
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Scaffolding
  • Excavation and Trenching
  • Heavy Equipment Operation
  • Forklift and Scissor Lift Operation
  • Accident Investigation
  • Lock-Out/Tag-Out
  • OSHA 10- and 30-Hour Certification (Construction & General Industry)

In mechanical contracting, prevention is the key to having a safe work environment. Our continuous safety education program includes required "tool box talks," conducted weekly at each job site. Emergency preparedness (including evacuation procedures) is covered monthly.

Our commitment to safety is demonstrated by an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) that has exceeded the industry average by 16%-29% since 2008. Recent local and national safety awards include:
